Hobart Seaglider SG154 Recovered!
This morning at 6:50am EST a team from CSIRO successfully recovered the Seaglider, SG154, about 16NM ENE of Pirates Bay, Tasmania. This marks the end of the historic first ever southern hemisphere Seaglider deployment which lasted 60 days, during this time competing 430 dives, many to 1000m depth.

Many lessons in seaglider navigation and power consumption were learned over the course of this deployment and we are very confident that we will be able to significantly increase mission duration in future deployments.
Thanks go to the field team of Lindsay Macdonald, Ken Ridgeway & Mark Rayner and to Mun Woo for base support.

Portland Seaglider Deployment Postponed
Due to a delivery company error, which resulted in a section of the seaglider being delivered to Hobart rather than Portland, today's Seaglider deployment off Portland, VIC has been postponed. This deployment is now planned to occur in the week beginning 27/04/2009
NSWIMOS Slocum Recovery (NEMO2)

Unit106 Aborts Due to Leak
Unit106 has aborted due to a leak. It is currently positioned ~40NM off Perth and is being taken further offshore by strong NE currents. It appears that the leak is not catastrophic and the glider is still able complete shallow dives. It has been programmed to head directly towards Fremantle diving to a depth of 30m and surfacing every 1 hour. Recovery has been scheduled for Thursday and in the meantime the glider is being closely monitored in case the leak gets any worse.
